What is a Type-In?

A Type-In is a social gathering event for typewriter enthusiasts of all ages. In a large room, usually a bar or restaurant, long vertical tables are set up, and what they inhabit are none other than typewriters of all kinds and from all different decades. People bring typewriters from their personal collection to share and type with everyone else for a couple hours out of the day.

However, this event is not only for typewriter collectors. This is an open event for everyone, and one of the best places to discover the magic of the typewriter. These events often hold activities such as speed typing contests, raffles, and typewriter swaps. The Type-In that this blog puts on occurs at the Chandler Sunset Library in Arizona about every six months. Stay tuned to the posts on this blog to find out more about the next upcoming Type-Ins!
